Sai Kang Warriors by Daniel Yu

by
Daniel Yu has taken some Playmobil figures and turned them into works of art. This series of 5 figures entitled "Sai Kang Warriors." The term "Sai Kang" in Chinese refers to an unpleasant and undesirable task. This series showcases 5 blue collar workers whose jobs are not desirable. Daniel Yu gave a blank and vacant expression to each of these workers to reflect how society views such laborers as ones without an identity. Each of these figures has painstaking detail, especially the construction worker with his gloves and vest- they really are very well done. I am not sure if these figures are still available but send a note to Daniel Yu at his website HERE and ask.

David Kraig's Boba Fett Is Here To Collect His Bounty...

by
David Kraig has just finished an amazing new custom that, if you could not tell, is inspired by one of the all time great Bounty Hunters from Star Wars, Boba Fett!!! Using a 4" Munny as a base with some sculpey for the details, this Munny has everything it takes to be the ultimate Bounty Hunter. I love the small details on this figure, especially on the helmet with the small bullet dent. This custom is already spoken for but I am sure if you contact David Kraig through his website HERE, he will be more than happy to make one for you.

Ugly Unicorn Rainbow Madness By Rampage Toys...

by
Rampage Toys has just released a whole slew of Ugly Unicorns and other custom toys this past weekend in their online shop and all I can say is WOW! The Rainbow Hair Ugly Unicorn comes from an edition of 5 and the contrast between the brightly colored hair and monotonous body makes this piece so much fun to look at! I just have to say this is my favorite Ugly Unicorn of all time as it literally just POPS! Another Ugly Unicorn that was just released is from a collaboration with Paul Kaiju and comes from an edition of 5 as well. It kind of makes me think of what a zombie Ugly Unicorn might look like with the use of the gangrene green and the zombie eyes. I also saw this RxH Mutant custom was just put up as well and the color pattern used with the intricate detailing is just AMAZING. If you are interested in picking any of these up please head on over to the Rampage Toys Store HERE.

Blast From The Past... Toys That Are Still Popular...

by

Have you ever wondered how old some of the toys you play with today really are? Well writer Maureen Denard from Findananny.net was curious as well and went back all the way to the 1970's. (Can you believe that is almost 40 years ago?) She compiled a list of 10 popular toys that date back to that time period. Ranging from Hot Wheels to Barbies this list gives us an insight into how our toys from today really aren't that much different then the ones from the ye olden times of the 70's. I did not know the Slip N' Slide was from back then, I literally thought it was an invention of the 90's since I used it almost everyday during the summer. If you would like to find out the other 7 on the list then please click HERE.

"As Seen On TV" Task One Gets Real...

by
Task One has gone above and beyond with his new show that opens at Plastic Chapel, Saturday, June 9th. "As Seen On TV" will feature 8 Munny versions of characters from what he considers to be some of the best shows on TV recent and past. Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Wire, Breaking Bad and more are all represented in this awesome showcase of TV human expression and all put down on the Munny platform. These TV Characters look so realistic to me and look absolutely perfect in every way. I wish I could purchase them all. (Especially Larry David.) If you are interested in any of these pieces and are wanting to purchase one send Plastic Chapel an email to find out how these will be sold! Good Luck!

I Can See Your Insides With Carson Catlin...

by
Carson Catlin is up to no good. He is taking sweet little innocent Dunny's and Munny's and carving them out. Now before you go OH NO, ake a look at the colorful masterpieces he has turned them into. Using his 2 tone color pallet and carving out intricate beautiful patterns that can be stared at for hours these little patients are a sight to see! I would definitely say that sacrificing these Dunny's and Munny's was worth it. Wouldn't you? If you are interested in picking one of these pieces up from the Most Wanted show at 1am Gallery then please click HERE.

Who's Ready For Some Black Magic?

by
Fuller is up to some of his New Orleans "Black Magic" tricks again. After the much success of his first series of "Black Magic" Dunny characters, Fuller decided to do a series 2. Featuring 5 different creatures from the deepest realms of "Black Magic" this set has the colorful vibrance and beautiful ambiance that is to be expected from a Fuller Dunny Set. My favorite from this set is the lizard with the studded dog collar. Who wouldn't want a pet lizard that looked like that? If you are interested in picking one of these up all the pre-orders have sold out but if you go to his store HERE and click the contact button on the right Fuller said he would be more then happy to make one of these little "Black Magic" Dunnys for you.

The creation of Resin is King Series 1

by
This afternoon was spent creating the Resin is King Series 1 blind boxes that we will be selling tomorrow. The slideshow below will show you the steps we took to create this series:

Resin is King Series 1 will be release at 8pm EST tomorrow at the following link:

Each blind box will be $25 and comes stuffed with a 2.75" resin figure, a sticker and a ratio card. In some cases there are additional stickers or original sketches by the artists included inside the box. Also, there is one Golden Ticket randomly inserted. The customer pulling the Golden Ticket will win a 6" resin Teuth figure cast in resin and custom-painted specifically for this series by Brian Ahlbeck.

More info on the Resin is King series:

This was a collaborative project between Dead Hand Toys (Brian Ahlbeck) and Tenacious Toys (Benny Kline). Last year we were hanging out and it occurred to both of us that there had never really been a multi-artist blind box resin figure series, so we decided to create one. We picked a very small group of friends and associates to include in Series 1: Brian, of course, plus Rich Page, NEMO & Osiris (Bad Applez), Matt A*, Jay222, Motorbot and Dave Bondi. We wanted to keep the price point low and offer up a similar buying experience to the multitude of blind-boxed vinyl toys on the market. If Series 1 goes well, we have big, BIG plans for Series 2. Props to all the guys in Series 1; thank you for your patience as I endlessly pushed the release date back.

DIY Zukie coming May 25th

by
Over the last few months we';ve been posting a lot of work from Alison Perez, aka Miss Zukie. Alison's signature character, a simple little creature named Zukie, has been popping into our inbox regularly as Alison creates Zukie over and over in the form of custom toys and figures. At first, her pieces were almost dioramas, even terrarium-style pieces, incorporating found objects in enclosed environments, under glass. Then Zukie began hanging out with other cool platform toys like David Choe's Munko figures. Always inviting and colorful, Alison's custom work sold quickly. It seemed like Alison always had another trick, another idea, up her sleeve for the next piece. Zukie began to be available in many sizes, from super minis up to a few inches.

So to be honest, it was not a big surprise when Alison let it slip that she was having her Zukie character turned into a 4-inch DIY figure. After making a splash on the scene with a signature character, that would be the logical next step. Introducing DIY Zukie- a clean, simple and well-made DIY figure:

DIY Zukie has one point of articulation (neck) and is just as clean as can be. Certainly a great platform to customize. With a price point at $9.95, this figure directly competes with Kidrobot's Mini Munny and the Mini Qees from Toy2R.

Whoever produced this figure for Alison did a great job on packaging, with plastic inserts in the box just like the big boys use.

Zukie art all over the box is fun and works well with the DIY nature of this figure. I've seen a bunch of artists posting on Facebook that they are excited to finally get their hands on a DIY Zukie.

You can secure your own on May 25th at the following link:

I am really happy that Alison got this sample Zukie to me when she did... a day later, Arqball visited us in our warehouse and took an interactive spin of the DIY Zukie figure:
